My name is Greyson Courtney, and I am an interactive media intern here at Navigation Advertising. I grew up in Murfreesboro and I am currently pursing my bachelor’s degree at Middle Tennessee State University in interactive media with a minor in theatre.
Social media has always been fascinating to me. The idea that such a relatively new invention could change the world in such drastic ways drew my interest. The internet and social media are transforming the world and I wanted to gain more insight into how it works and what makes it tick. This led me to choose interactive media as my field of study.
My experience here at Navigation has been a very positive one. I’ve been given the opportunity to do various kinds of work. So far, I’ve conducted research, written blog posts, written copy for websites and created social media posts. Each project I’ve worked on has been a new challenge and the team here at Navigation has been very helpful and patient while guiding me through each one. The office environment is probably one of the most laid back you will ever find. Everyone is kind and good at what they do.
This semester in general has been a difficult but rewarding one. I have a job in addition my internship here at Navigation. I intern at Navigation on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays and work at my other job Wednesday, Saturday, and Sunday. On top of that, I also take some online classes. It has been a lot to handle at once, but it has not been as difficult as I imagined and has ultimately been a rewarding experience.
I am a senior and once my internship is completed, I will graduate this August with a degree in interactive media. I am incredibly grateful for the opportunity to intern here and complete my degree. Beyond this internship I’m not sure what the future holds, but I am so excited to venture out into the unknown that is post-college life.
